The sports world has plenty to talk about these days with NFL playoffs drawing nearer, MLB’s offseason heating up and NBA season hitting full stride. College football has plenty to talk about these days as well though and we’re not just talking about the upcoming bowl season. The coaching carousel has begun and there are plenty of jobs opening and closing.
Willie Taggart and Matt Rhule are the two big hires of the week with Taggart heading to Oregon and Rhule departing to be the head man at Baylor. Both jobs were surprise hires in their own right.
Many thought Rhule was the lead guy for the Oregon job, but rumor has it that he turned down that job to be the coach at Baylor. That gig will surely be tough with the scandal surrounding it in the past year or so, but if there is any man to right the ship then it’s Rhule. He comes from Temple and is an A+ man.
Taggart has done quite a great job at South Florida and fits the Oregon style more than a guy like Rhule. His teams have regularly put up big point totals at South Florida and he should do quite well with the wealth of offensive talent at Oregon.
