We’re well past the middle of summer, in many states the kids have already gone back to school. Although the Labor Day weekend is the official end of summer, we’re still hoping to keep the sunshine flowing with a look at what we think are the best Summer Songs of all time…
“Summer in the City” – Lovin’ Spoonful
“The Boys of Summer” – Don Henley
“Summer of 69” – Bryan Adams
“All Summer Long” – Kid Rock
“Steal My Sunshine” – Lem
“Hot Fun in the Summer Time” Sly and the Family Stone
“Schools’ Out” – Alice Cooper
“Summertime Blues” – Johnny Cochran
“Soak Up the Sun” – Sheryl Crow
“Summer Rain” – Johnny Rivers
“All Summer Long” – The Beach Boys
“Walking on Sunshine” – Katrina and the Waves
Conclusions: This is quite a list, celebrating songs from as far back as the 60s with the Lovin’ Spoonful, to the 2000s with Lem. The best summer video comes from Don Henley, while the best hook may be from Katrina and the Waves. The Kid Rock song uses the same hook as Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London,” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.” No wonder it was a hit!
