Let’s take a tour of the best rock and roll Cities in America. All aboard to the Motor City!
Detroit is the city of cars, Motown Music, the Detroit Tigers, Vernors Ginger Ale, birthplace of actors Tom Selleck, Tim Allen, and Jeff Daniels. The Motor City is also the home of great rock and roll. Here are a few memorable rockers and or bands from Detroit and its suburbs.
Frigid Pink, Bob Seger, Meatloaf, all of the Motown singers and bands, the 4 Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, the Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder (okay Stevie is actually from the Saginaw/Bay City area) Mary Wilson and the famous ‘Funk Brothers.’
Also from Detroit are the rockers Iggy Pop, Bill Haley, Del Shannon, Ted Nugent, Mitch Ryder, Alice Cooper, Glenn Frey of the Eagles, Grand Funk Railroad, Eminem, Madonna, Kid Rock and Tommy James and the Shondells.
