The Best From the 80s

The decade of the 80s was an interesting group of years, given the influence of Punk, the second British Invasion, Girl Power, and the birth of Techno. The MTV Channel heavily influenced the bands. Who were the best from the 80s?

Duran Duran was so good they named themselves twice. This band of brothers dominated the MTV scene, and we still wish we could get a ride on that yacht.

Van Halen (either Sammy or David Lee Roth) proved that great songs and albums could come from rockers who did look the part. These two versions had more hits that the 80s did hair bands.

U2 became the voice of activism and truth in the decade that showed the world greed and human suffering. They are still together, and still at the top of our 80s list.

Journey had more hits, leaving more broken hearts than any other band from the 80s.

Queen was mystical in their original sound Brian May’s unique guitar pedal and Freddie’s flamboyant struts on stage. We miss Mr. Mercury for sure.

Let’s salute the women rockers from the 80s, from Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Cyndi Lauper, The Motels, B52’s, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, or Chrissie Hynde, the women of the 80s made the years memorable.
