In Amarillo, Texas the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is set to host GiRl Power. The Girls in Real Life event dubbed “You Glow Girl” theme will be held on Thursday, November third from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center Regency Room, located at 401 South Buchanan Street. This will be their first GiRL Power event in Amarillo since 2019. The vent will have speakers and activities for attendees to take part in such as, “Steady Your Light,” presented by Raja Kiani, M.D., a Texas Tech Physicians child psychiatrist, “It’s OK to Not Be OK,” presented by AISD Counselors, and “Dance like No One is Watching,” presented by Christina Monteith.
Rebekah Siegfriedt, who is a lead strategic systems engineer at NASA, will deliver the keynote address. Fifth to eighth grade girls are welcome to attend the event along with a female guardian. Entry for the event is $5 per person. Attendees for the event will receive dinner, photos, door prizes, a t-shirt and more. Check in for the event is at 5:30 p.m.
