Texas Rises: Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum Unite Stars in Flood Relief Concert

In an electrifying display of solidarity, Band Together Texas filled the Moody Center in Austin on August 17 with music, emotion, and resilience. Spearheaded by Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum, the star-studded concert raised an extraordinary $8.5 million to aid communities devastated by the July 4 floods in Central Texas—funds directed to the Texas Hill Country and Central Texas Community foundations.

The evening opened with a stirring call to hope from Matthew McConaughey, his words echoing throughout the crowd: “We chase darkness with light,” he said, setting a tone of unity and healing.

Performances from Lambert and McCollum blended heartfelt tributes and uplifting favorites, while Wade Bowen’s “A Beautiful World” transformed the arena into a galaxy of glowing smartphone lights. Texas legends Lyle Lovett and Lukas Nelson followed, and sports icons like Vince Young and Mack Brown lent their presence to the cause.

The night culminated in a collective rendition of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” with the entire cast joining McConaughey onstage—a powerful anthem of recovery and togetherness.
