Taylor Swift kept the UFO theme going as she celebrated her historic win at the 2024 MTV VMAs. The singer, who now holds the record with 30 Moon People after winning seven awards at this year’s ceremony, was spotted heading to an afterparty at Electric Lady Studios in New York City on September 11.
Swift, 34, wore a beaded Monse minidress featuring a UFO design during the VMAs. Later, she arrived at the afterparty in a similar outfit: a UFO-printed tapestry boyfriend jacket by the same designer, paired with an asymmetrical mini skirt and corset in a matching alien print. She completed her look with chunky black knee-high boots, smoky eye makeup, and her signature red lipstick. Celebrities like Post Malone and Sabrina Carpenter were also in attendance at the event.
The UFO motif appears to reference Swift’s song “Down Bad” from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. Swift explained on iHeartRadio that the track explores the feeling of being “love bombed” and likened it to an alien abduction.
Swift’s win on Wednesday surpassed Beyoncé’s previous record of 25 solo artist VMAs. During her acceptance speech for Video of the Year for “Fortnight” featuring Malone, Swift thanked her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, for his support on set, calling him a source of joy and magic. The 2024 MTV VMAs took place on September 11, airing live from the UBS Arena in New York.
