Taylor Swift Delights Fans with Debut Performance of “The Bolter” and Rare Songs in Edinburgh

Taylor Swift continues to keep her fans on their toes during her massive Eras Tour, and Saturday night’s concert at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium was no exception. As she approaches the milestone of her 100th show on this global trek, Swift delighted her audience with the live debut of “The Bolter,” a track from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department.

The June 8 show marked a significant moment for Swifties as the singer-songwriter strayed from her usual setlist to perform “The Bolter” live for the first time. Playing the song on guitar, Swift navigated the poignant lyrics with ease, capturing the crowd with her narrative of heartbreak and self-discovery. “Hearts are hers for the breakin’” and “escape in escaping” resonated through the stadium, showcasing the depth and versatility of her songwriting.

The surprise didn’t end there. Swift seamlessly transitioned into a fan favorite, “Getaway Car,” from her 2017 album Reputation. The fusion of “The Bolter” and “Getaway Car” brought a unique, acoustic twist to both songs, a signature move for Swift’s ever-evolving acoustic section of the Eras Tour.

Swift’s tradition of blending unexpected tracks during her concerts has become a beloved feature, especially during the international leg of her tour. True to her promise of being “as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward,” Swift delivered another delightful surprise at the Edinburgh show.

At the piano, she paired “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” a previously unreleased track from the vault of her 2019 album Lover, with “Crazier,” a lesser-known song from the 2009 Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack. Despite Swift’s doubts about the crowd’s familiarity with “Crazier,” the audience proved her wrong by enthusiastically singing along to the nostalgic chorus: “You lift my feet off the ground / You spin me around / You make me crazier, crazier / Feels like I’m fallin’ and I am lost in your eyes / You make me crazier, crazier, crazier.”

Swift laughed in delight at the chorus of voices joining her, expressing her surprise and joy at the crowd’s response.

As the Eras Tour nears its 100th show, Swift’s performance in Edinburgh demonstrated her continued ability to surprise and connect with her audience through a rich tapestry of new and nostalgic songs. Fans left the stadium buzzing with excitement, eager to see what other surprises the Eras Tour might have in store.
