The Surviving R. Kelly documentary that helped to bring new criminal charges against the disgraced R&B singer, is getting another season. The season is titled, Surviving R. Kelly: The Final Chapter will document the trials and fallout that occurred against R. Kelly after the first charges that he faced in 2019 that led to his 30 year sentence for sex trafficking.
A press release for the series reads, “While millions have read the headlines, the final chapter connects the shocking fine print with unspeakable details never shared with the public, culminating in the verdict heard around the world.”
The Lifetime series is airing the two-part special on January second and third on Lifetime at 8:00 p.m. ET. The first episode will be following Azriel Clary’s court testimony, the Clary family will also speak on the intimidation tactics used against them by R. Kelly fans. The episode will briefly touch on the aftermath of the shooting threat issued by Kelly’s former manager Donell Russell during the 2018 premiere screening of the documentary. Whereas, the second episode will pivot to the testimonials on numerous Jane Doe’s, and their feelings about Kelly’s final verdict.
R. Kelly was found guilty on nine counts including racketeering, transporting individuals across state lines for illegal sexual activity, coercion and enticement and the transportation of a minor. He was sentenced to 30 years behind bars for those charges, and also faced trial again in his hometown of Chicago, where he ended up convicted of child pornography charges by a federal jury in September.
