According to ratedrnb.com, Steve Lacy ‘s ‘Bad Habit,’ off of his sophomore album, Gemini Rights, has moved to number one on Billboard Hot 100 for the week of October 8th. “Bad Habit” is the 1142nd Hot 100 chart-topper, making Lacy the third male artist this year to make the accomplishment. He also joins Beyoncé (“Break My Soul“) with being the second R&B artist to top the Hot 100 this year, with a new, non-recurrent track. Lacey is also the first R&B act to lead the Hot 100 as a solo artist since back in April of 2020. The track spent four week at the number two spot before ultimately taking over the number one position on the chart. Bad Habit was self-produced and also managed to reach 360 million streams on Spotify.
Gemini Rights, the album which the track is from, was released on July 15th via RCA Records, selling 34,000 units in its first week, also debuting at Number 7 on the Billboard 200, marking his first album to appear on this chart. The LP also managed to top three other album charts, the Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Rock & Alternative Albums. Lacy also recently got his Give You the World Tour, where he will perform 26 dates across the United States, ending on November 11th, at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
