On Sunday, February 5th, Steve Lacy nabbed a Best Progressive R&B Album trophy for Gemini Rights at the 65th Grammy Awards, marking Lacy’s very first Grammy.
The release of the single, Mercury, off of Gemini Rights happened in June of 2022 and was followed up by the release of “Bad Habit” and “Sunshine” featuring Fousheé. The former hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October of 2022 and held the position for three weeks straight. Meanwhile, Gemini Rights hit number 7 on the Billboard 200, marking Lacy’s first top 10 debut on the main albums chart.
On top of winning Best Progressive R&B Album, Lacy was also nominated for Song of the Year (“Bad Habit”), Record of the Year (“Bad Habit”) and Best Pop Solo Performance (‘Bad Habit”).
