Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward has highlighted a heightened sense of urgency within the team as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. Speaking on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Heyward stated, “I think we’re in a state of urgency… We all want to win. It’s not just enough to win a playoff game, which we haven’t won in a couple years, and there’s a bad taste in our mouth because of that.”
The Steelers have been proactive this offseason, acquiring wide receiver DK Metcalf and bolstering their defense with additions like Malik Harrison, Darius Slay, and Juan Thornhill. These moves signal the organization’s commitment to immediate success.
Heyward, entering his 15th NFL season, emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the prime years of key players such as T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick. “You don’t just get a T.J. Watt and you sit on that… We’ve got to win now,” he asserted.
Addressing the team’s quarterback situation, Heyward commented on the potential addition of veteran Aaron Rodgers, stating, “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t.” This reflects the team’s desire for decisive commitments as they aim for postseason success.
