Aaron Rodgers is trading Gang Green for black and gold in what might be the final chapter of a storied NFL career. The four-time MVP has officially signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, ending months of speculation and giving the franchise a veteran leader as they aim to break out of their wild-card rut.
Rodgers, now 41, joins a team in search of a quarterback identity following Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement. Pittsburgh has made the playoffs in four of the past five years but hasn’t advanced past the first round. Rodgers could change that narrative—if he can recapture even a spark of his past brilliance.
His 2024 stint with the New York Jets was derailed by a season-opening Achilles injury, but a late-season surge (18 TDs, 4 INTs, 97 rating) reminded the league he still has gas left in the tank. With wide receiver DK Metcalf and a revamped offense, the Steelers are betting big on experience.
The move draws familiar parallels to Brett Favre’s late-career path. Now, Rodgers will try to script a final flourish in Pittsburgh. Whether it’s a redemption arc or farewell tour, the NFL spotlight will once again shine brightly on No. 12.
