Bruce Springsteen’s Broadway residency at the Walter Kerr Theater, the official opening night (after a handful of soft opening performances) ‘Springsteen On Springsteen’ did something unusual; the Springsteen team and Kerr group donated an entire front row of tickets in a blind auction last week, proceeds going to the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization. The opening bid was $25,000 and the winners of the auction will be notified very soon.
The October 12 opening night performance is by invitation-only, no tickets sold to the public for this performance. Bono from U2, Meat Loaf, Sting, Bon Jovi, and Green Day have all made the transition to Broadway to expand their fan base and get off the road.
‘Springsteen On Springsteen’ is a new adventure for the Boss, with the five shows per week schedule to run through February 3rd. We’re not sure of ticket availability as the box office opened a few weeks ago, but you can check out the event at brucespringsteen.net/broadway/
