“Spider-Man: No Way Home” Earns 2nd Biggest Box Office Debut

Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially surpassed the predicted box office earnings by about $7 million, as the finale of the trilogy collected $260 million in North American theaters over the weekend.

Avengers: Infinity War was the previous second-biggest debut in Hollywood history, at $257 million, behind only Avengers: Endgame, which landed $357 million.

Internationally, the third, Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film earned $340.8 million, making its global debut $600.8 million.  It stands as the third-biggest worldwide launch ever after “Avengers: Endgame” ($1.2 billion) and “Avengers: Infinity War” ($640 million).

This newest Marvel adventure has also notably blown away COVID-era box office benchmarks, as no movie prior to this weekend had been able to cross $100 million in a single weekend.
