Snoop Dogg Weighs in on Kendrick Lamar and Drake Beef: “They Made You Rap Again”

Snoop Dogg has shared his thoughts on the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, highlighting the positive impact their lyrical battles have had on the rap industry. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the rap legend, while promoting his role in The Garfield Movie, praised both artists for elevating the standards of songwriting and lyricism.

“Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout-out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation,” Snoop said. “Those are my nephews. I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that’s personal business, not my business.”

He further added, “As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So thank y’all.”

The West Coast icon’s comments come after Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” stirred the pot earlier this year, with Snoop posting a reaction video on Instagram on April 20. The video showed Snoop initially taken aback by the news, but he quickly found humor in the situation. “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? [Sighs] Y’all have a good night and to all… [Laughs]… Why everybody calling my phone, blowing me up? What the f—k? What happened? What’s going on? I’m going back to bed. Good night,” he said.

Despite not taking sides, Snoop’s involvement wasn’t entirely neutral. His voice was used in a trolling attempt by Drake, who tried to pressure Kendrick into responding to the diss track “Push Ups.” This led to a legal threat from the Tupac estate, forcing Drake to take down the “Taylor Made Freestyle.”
