Fresh off their headline-making performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are set to release their highly anticipated album, Missionary, this November. The biggest surprise? Legendary musician Sting will be featured on the album.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Dre shared his excitement about the project, revealing, “We have Sting on the song. Man, it’s an amazing roster of artists on this album. I probably shouldn’t have said that.”
This unexpected collaboration adds an intriguing twist to Missionary, which marks the first full-length album Dre has produced for Snoop since their groundbreaking 1993 record, Doggystyle. The partnership between Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg is legendary, dating back to Dre’s 1992 album The Chronic, which introduced Snoop to the world and set the stage for his debut album.
Dre hinted that Missionary will showcase a new level of maturity in both the music and lyrics. “This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career,” Dre said, adding that the album is crafted with a broader audience in mind, especially women.
As for the production process, Dre shared that they’re finalizing the album, with a friendly debate over the number of tracks—Dre aiming for 14, while Snoop wants 16. Dre’s goal is to have the album ready for a November release.
With a career that has consistently shaped the music industry, from The Chronic to 2001, and his role in launching Eminem’s career, Dr. Dre’s influence on the charts is undeniable. Missionary promises to be another milestone in his and Snoop Dogg’s storied careers.
