Snoop Dogg Admits Pixar’s “Lightyear” Left Him “Scared” of Toy-Theater Talks

In a candid moment on the It’s Giving podcast, rap icon Snoop Dogg confessed that watching Pixar’s Lightyear with his grandson shook his comfort in children’s entertainment. He recounted how the youngster paused the film to ask, “Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman?”—referring to the movie’s portrayal of a same‑sex couple raising a child. The question, he admitted, left him at a loss, causing him to jokingly declare, “I’m scared to go to the movies.”

Rather than engage, Snoop redirected the moment—telling his grandson to watch the movie and “eat this popcorn”—revealing his unpreparedness to explain LGBTQ+ representation to a child. He also expressed frustration that such themes are “putting it everywhere,” questioning whether this level of exposure is appropriate for young audiences.

The scene in question—the first same-sex kiss in a Pixar film—sparked significant controversy. Initially cut from Lightyear, it was reinstated after internal pushback at Pixar, only to result in bans across multiple countries.

Snoop’s remarks have sparked a heated cultural debate about representation, parenting, and age-appropriate storytelling in media aimed at kids.
