The Smashing Pumpkins recently released ATUM, the follow up to their albums Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and Machina/The Machines of God. Act 1 of the 33 track rock opera is now available starting today. Pronounced “autumn,” ATUM is going to be released in three parts that will be released 11 weeks apart. Meaning that Act 2 will be arriving on January 31st, and Act 3 will come on April 21st. A box set that includes all three acts as well as an additional 10 bonus tracks will release on April 21st also.
Smashing Pumpkins’ last album was in 2020 with, CYR. ATUM was originally teased with the release of single “Beguiled,” which was performed live on Fallon. The band is also currently in the middle of the “Spirits on Fire Tour,” alongside Jane’s Addiction with remaining tickets being sold through Ticketmaster.
