Slipknot Frontman Corey Taylor Exposes Plans for Solo Album and Tour

On Thursday, August 22nd, Slipknot’s lead singer, Corey Taylor has expressed that he’s considering his first proper solo album. The interview was with
SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Taylor said, “I’m actually giving serious thought to doing a solo album and a solo run. Obviously, it’s not going to happen for a while. I’m actually giving you the exclusive, because I haven’t told anybody that I was going to do that.”

With Slipknot slated to be on the road in support of Not Your Kind at least through late February, Taylor said any solo material would likely knot emerge until 2021. But in a good sign for the Maggots who have been needling him about going out on his own, some initial work has already begun. “I’m actually putting a band together,” he said. “I’ve already told the guys in Stone Sour and Slipknot that I’m doing it, just out of respect. I’m going to start work on a solo album. That’s all I’ll give you for now. But, yeah, that’s the plan as of right now.

Slipknot singer Corey Taylor has already gone outside of the masked fold in the past for half a dozen albums with the side band Stone Sour, but now he says he’s considering releasing his first solo project.
Taylor, who just celebrated a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 with his band’s sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, said releasing a solo album was something he didn’t consider for a a long time, finally relenting after, “people just kept beating me up about it, asking me when I was going to do it. The more they kept asking, the more I kept thinking about it, and the more I was like, ‘You know what? If I don’t do it now, I’m never going to do it.’”
