SKIMS’ latest collaboration offers a decidedly Italian view on shapewear. Teaming up with Dolce&Gabbana, a brand with somewhat of a chequered past to say the least, the Kim Kardashian-founded brand is launching a co-designed collection that fuses Dolce’s Italian aesthetic with SKIMS signature silhouettes.
As Hypebae reports, known to be both long-term collaborators and friends, Kim Kardashian and Dolce & Gabbana have evolved their existing relationship, which most recently saw the reality star curate the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 presentation. Now, the collaboration consists of new lingerie, sleepwear and corsets, featuring D&G’s leopard print and logos.
Combining the Italian fashion houses’ signature ‘dolce vita’ with the shapewear brand’s sculpting silhouettes, the collection flirts with femininity, silky fabrics and corsetry to create pieces that feel inherently true to both brand’s identities.
“It’s been an honor to collaborate with my friends Domenico and Stefano on this special collection for Dolce&Gabbana and SKIMS,” said Kim Kardashian, co-founder of SKIMS in a statement. “We’ve taken classic Dolce&Gabbana silhouettes and Leopard prints and reimagined them with the incredible fit and comfort that SKIMS is known for. This is a truly iconic partnership that I’m so excited to share with the world,” she continued.
Celebrating the release is a new campaign photographed by Nadia Lee Cohen, lending her distinctive vision to a series of images starring Kim and Kourtney that has a very Sophia Loren in “La Dolce Vita” feel to it. The co-designed collection follows on from the success of Kim Kardashian’s personal collaboration with the luxury fashion house in 2022, which saw her produce a 85-piece runway collection titled ‘Ciao Kim’.
