Sissy Stars in This Week’s ‘The Old Man and the Gun’

Sissy Spacek has always had a very special birthday, born on Christmas Day 1949 in little old Quitman TX. She’s starring in a very funny and touching movie which opens at the end of the week called ‘The Old Man and the Gun’ opposite Robert Redford. You might say there are sparks in the love story woven in the lines of a paroled 70-year-old former bank robber who gets back into the bank robbing game. Sissy is marvelous in the film.

Fans grew to love he in the films ‘JFK, ‘and ‘Crimes of the Heart’ but it was the 1980 movie ‘Coal Miners Daughter’ that solidified her as a leading actress with plenty of spunk. Sissy has not always been that lucky; she was the directors 1st choice for the role of Emma in the film ‘Terms of Endearment’ but the part eventually went to Debra Winger. She’s often asked what her favorite role as an actress was, and we think it’s the 1976 horror classic ‘Carrie. Sissy has her very own Hollywood Walk of Fame Star, and will appear in many more films before she calls it a day.
