Shinedown Takes Back Billboard Record

According to regionalmedianews.com, Shinedown has taken back the record for most number one singles on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with their latest single, Daylight, off of their album, Planet Zero. The latest single has given them their 18th number one Mainstream Rock single, the most in the total 41 year history of the chart.

Shinedown previously set the record for the most number one Mainstream Rock Hits back in 2020 with 16, breaking the previous record that was held by Three Days Grace, The two bands have been battling for the spot since, with Three Days Grace tying with Shinedown with 17 number ones just last month. “Daylight” is the second Planet Zero song to hit the number one spot on Mainstream Rock Airplay, after the title track. Shinedown is also touring in the U.S. in support of Planet Zero, with the next scheduled show set for August 25th in Asheville, North Carlonia.

Shinedown first set the record for the most #1 Mainstream Rock hits in 2020 with 16, breaking the high-water mark previously set by Three Days Grace. The two bands have since been been battling for the record, with Three Days Grace just tying Shinedown with 17 #1s last month.

“Daylight” is the second Planet Zero track to hit #1 on Mainstream Rock Airplay, following the title track. Shinedown’s U.S. tour in support of Planet Zero resumes August 25 in Asheville, North Carolina.
