Shania Twain to Host 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards at Grand Ole Opry

Country music’s association with the People’s Choice Awards brand continues to grow, entering its second year on September 26. The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards will air live from Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Peacock, with the event hosted by none other than 100 million record-selling country superstar Shania Twain.

Jen Neal, Executive Vice President of Live Events and Specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment, stated, “With a proven track record of creating music that stands the test of time, Shania is a beloved member of the country community. As we return to the Grand Ole Opry House, she is the perfect person to help us celebrate country’s finest.”

Twain expressed her excitement for the event: “Country has some of the most passionate fans in music and we artists are so lucky to be supported in doing what we love. I am honored to host an award show that celebrates these awesome fans. Get ready for an unforgettable show with lots of big hair, glamour, rhinestones, hats, boots, and incredible performances.”

Twain has been a prominent figure in Music City recently, making an appearance at the 2022 ACM Honors and headlining a set at Geodis Park during her 2023 “Queen of Me” tour. Special guests during the tour included Kelsea Ballerini, BRELAND, Wynonna Judd, Tanya Tucker, and the sister quartet The Boykinz.

Last year’s People’s Choice Country Awards ended abruptly, with only half of the awards presented. Toby Keith and Wynonna Judd were celebrated as the “Country Icon” and “Country Champion” award winners, respectively. Jelly Roll led all performers with four fan-voted category wins: Male Artist, New Artist, Collaboration, and Song.

The top nominees for the 2023 People’s Choice Country Awards included Morgan Wallen, HARDY, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, and Lainey Wilson. Reflecting on the broader inclusivity in country music, Neal added, “It’s good that we’re raising the standards for excellence in country music by broadening [the types of stars the genre makes]. Country music remaining exclusive sends talented artists to other genres, which denies country music the ability to continue adapting to pop music’s trends.”

Recently, Twain performed at London’s Hyde Park on July 8, 2024, following an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival a week earlier. Fans are eagerly anticipating her hosting of the People’s Choice Country Awards, expecting a night full of celebration, music, and unforgettable performances.
