Very few celebrities know how to embrace their personal brand quite like Seth Rogen. Ever since the days of Freaks and Geeks and Pineapple Express, the actor and filmmaker has had a reputation for loving a certain leafy green plant.
Then, as Food & Wine reports, in 2019 he went all in — Rogen blended his passion for cannabis with his hobby for ceramics to launch Houseplant, a lifestyle brand with beautifully designed, artisanal weed paraphernalia. (Think: ashtrays, grinders, and rolling sets.) Houseplant’s products have all been about function and design — removing the negative stigma behind cannabis culture — and now, it’s also about hydration.
Now five years later, Houseplant has launched a THC-infused, flavored sparkling water. “At Houseplant, our approach has always been to create the products we wish existed — and to do so with the highest standards,” says Michael Mohr, Houseplant co-founder and CEO. “It has been thrilling to innovate with THC beverages, creating a drink that’s both accessible in strength and convenient, in a familiar, smoke-free format.”
Each can of Houseplant sparkling water includes three milligrams of THC — a relatively low dose that’s great for parties or winding down. “Not every situation is right for smoking, and not everyone wants to smoke,” says Rogen. “Houseplant beverages offer an approachable dose that’s perfect for those trying THC for the first time and for regular consumers like me.”
After taste-testing every sparkling water they could find, Houseplant co-founders Rogen, Mohr, and Evan Goldberg decided on four sugar-free flavors that use all-natural ingredients: pineapple, citrus, black cherry, and blackberry. “It all starts with making something we would love to own or consume ourselves,” says Mohr. “Black cherry is a classic flavor we all grew up drinking; citrus is a staple in all our fridges; blackberry is a bit more rare, but we figured out how to put our own spin on it and managed to make it incredibly delicious; and then pineapple — well, there’s a little wink in there to Pineapple Express.”
Houseplant’s sparkling beverages have actually been available in Canada (Rogen’s home country) since 2020, but now, Americans can order them direct-to-consumer or find them at Total Wine & Spirits and other select retailers.
“Launching THC beverages in the U.S. was a natural step in our evolution, as Houseplant grows and works to redefine what it means to participate in cannabis culture without the stigma,” adds Mohr. “We are excited to be a part of this THC renaissance.” To order a four-pack of Houseplant sparkling water, visit drinkhouseplant.com.
