Selena Gomez Wants to Hug All of Her Instagram Followers, After Becoming the First Woman on Instagram to Pass 400 Million Followers

Selena Gomez recently surpassed 400 million followers on Instagram marking the first time a woman has accomplished the feat. Gomez posted to Instagram on Sunday, March 19th, in order to show how much she appreciated her millions of fans around the world.

Gomez captioned the photo gallery on Instagram of herself posing with fans, “Wishing I could hug all 400 million of you.”

On Sunday morning, she star had 401 million Instagram followers, 20 million more than just a month ago, when she passed up Kylie Jenner as the most followed woman on Instagram. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed person ever on the platform, with 563 million followers.

Gomez returned to posting regularly on her Instagram account back in January, four years after she deleted the app from her phone and had a member of her team manage it due to her unhealthy relationship with social media.

Gomes previously told InStyle that, “At one point Instagram became my whole world, and it was really dangerous. In my early 20s, I felt like I wasn’t pretty enough. There was a whole period in my life when I thought I needed makeup and never wanted to be seen without it.”
