Selena Gomez to Channel Linda Ronstadt in Upcoming Biopic

Selena Gomez is gearing up to step into the shoes of legendary singer Linda Ronstadt in a much-anticipated biopic, as announced by Great Eastern Music, the music publisher founded by Ronstadt’s manager John Boylan. The biopic, currently untitled, promises to delve into the life and career of the celebrated “Blue Bayou” singer.

The project has moved from long-standing rumors to reality, with Gomez spending time at Ronstadt’s home to discuss the role and build a connection. James Keach, known for producing the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line” and the Grammy-winning Ronstadt documentary “The Sound of My Voice,” is set to produce the film alongside Boylan.

Gomez, who shared a photo of Ronstadt’s book “Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir” on her Instagram Stories, has previously acknowledged a resemblance to the 11-time Grammy winner. During a 2015 interview with Ryan Seacrest, Gomez mentioned, “I always used to get told that I look like her,” which led her to explore Ronstadt’s music.

Ronstadt’s illustrious career, marked by 10 top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits and her iconic number one single “You’re No Good,” has left a lasting impact on the music industry. Her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy are testaments to her influence.

Gomez’s portrayal of Ronstadt is eagerly awaited by fans, as she takes a brief break from social media to concentrate on this significant role. This biopic promises to be a tribute to Ronstadt’s musical legacy and a showcase of Gomez’s versatility as an actress and singer.
