Trisha Yearwood has debuted her new album, Let’s Be Frank, at Williams Sonoma. The tribute to Frank Sinatra, Yearwood’s first full-length solo record in over a decade, arrives Thursday, December 20th at Williams Sonoma stores nationwide and will be available everywhere February 15th on Yearwood’s Gwendolyn Records.
“I’ve talked about doing a standards album for about 20 years now, so it’s been a long time coming,” Yearwood admits. “The stars aligned when I worked with Don Was a couple of years ago on a Frank Sinatra 100th birthday tribute. We decided to find the time, and make the record together, under the flag of Sinatra.”
Yearwood recorded the project in just four days with a 55-piece orchestra at Capitol Records’ vaunted studios in Hollywood, where Sinatra cut many of his most famous tunes. Yearwood worked with arranger Vincent Mendoza and engineer Al Schmitt, singing into Sinatra’s vintage microphone. “It was a dream come true,” she says.
“Working with Williams Sonoma has been the right relationship from the start,” she says. “Long before we had any Trisha Yearwood product in stores with them, we did book signings for all three book releases, and it just felt like home. Everyone who knows me knows that I have long been a fan and avid shopper with Williams Sonoma, so it just all made sense.”
Let’s Be Frank will be available on CD, vinyl and digital. “Williams Sonoma will be playing the album in store, and you’ll see plenty of signage in the store,” Yearwood says. “I’m excited to see it come together.”
Let’s Be Frank is Yearwood’s first full-length solo record since 2007’s Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love, but Yearwood says the drought is over. “Fans who have been waiting for new Trisha music will hopefully like this,” she says of the Sinatra tribute, “but they won’t have long to wait for a regular studio album. I’ve been working on both albums this year. More new music is coming this fall. I’m making 2019 my year!”
