Sean “Diddy” Combs was reportedly hospitalized over the weekend after suffering a head injury while serving his federal prison sentence in New Jersey. The 56-year-old rapper, producer and former music executive was transported from the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix to a nearby hospital early Saturday morning, October 10, following what was described as a medical emergency.
According to published reports, Combs was taken from the facility by ambulance at approximately 1 a.m. The injury was reportedly considered non-life-threatening, and the Bad Boy Records founder was conscious and able to communicate during the incident. Combs reportedly returned to the prison later that morning after receiving medical attention.
The circumstances surrounding the injury remain unclear. No official explanation has been released detailing how Combs sustained the injury, and prison officials have not publicly provided additional information about the incident. A representative for Combs acknowledged the hospitalization reports, explaining that his team was working to establish exactly what happened. The spokesperson emphasized that the music executive’s health remained the primary concern.
The hospitalization comes during an increasingly complicated period of incarceration for Combs, whose prison experience has generated considerable media attention. In recent weeks, reports have surfaced alleging that the former entertainment mogul received unauthorized privileges while incarcerated, including access to prohibited electronic devices, special meals and other services.
Those allegations were followed by disciplinary action that reportedly resulted in Combs losing 41 days of good conduct credit. His projected release date subsequently shifted from January to March 2028.
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence following his conviction on two federal counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was found guilty in July 2025 and sentenced that October after a highly publicized criminal trial. The jury acquitted him of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.
Before his legal troubles, Combs was one of hip-hop’s most influential business figures, building Bad Boy Records into a major force in popular music and helping launch or develop the careers of numerous artists.
His criminal conviction and subsequent imprisonment marked a dramatic reversal for the once-powerful entertainment executive, whose business interests previously extended across music, fashion, television and other industries.
The latest medical incident adds another development to Combs’ time behind bars, although there is currently no verified indication that the injury will affect his sentence or projected release date.
For now, the circumstances of the reported head injury remain unresolved, with no additional medical details publicly confirmed.
