Scream VI managed a franchise best of $44.5 million opening from 3,675 theaters at the domestic box office. The Paramount and Spyglass film was fueled by moviegoers between 18 and 34 with 71 percent of attendees within that age range.
The last Scream movie was released in January of 2022 and opened to $30 million. The R-rated film also did well overseas, garnering $22.6 million for a worldwide start of $67.1 million.
Scream VI ended up costing a reported $33 million prior to marketing and was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
Scream VI was followed up by Creed III from Michael B. Jordan with a $27.2 million from 4,007 location for a decline of 53 percent.
