On February 16, 2025, “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) will commemorate its 50th anniversary with a star-studded special airing live on NBC and streaming on Peacock. The three-hour event will feature a blend of current and former cast members, as well as notable guest appearances.
The lineup includes SNL alumni such as Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, and Kristen Wiig. Original cast members Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, and Laraine Newman are also slated to participate. In addition, celebrities like Robert De Niro, Scarlett Johansson, and Kim Kardashian will make appearances, with Kardashian reuniting on-screen with former cast member Pete Davidson.
Leading up to the main event, NBC has organized several celebratory activities. On February 14, “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” will be livestreamed from Radio City Music Hall, featuring performances by artists such as Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, and Post Malone. Jimmy Fallon, an SNL alumnus, will host the concert.
Additionally, two documentaries have been released to honor the show’s legacy: “SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night,” a four-part series exploring the program’s cultural impact, and “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music,” directed by Questlove, which delves into the show’s rich musical history.
These events underscore SNL’s enduring influence on comedy and popular culture over the past five decades.
