At this year’s “CES 2026 The First Look” in Las Vegas, Samsung announced a new AI-based pet health feature for its SmartThings Pet Care platform. The service was created in partnership with pet healthcare startup 11Liter and is now available to pet owners around the world.
According to the information, the new feature allows pet owners to check their pets’ health using just a smartphone. By taking a photo of a pet’s teeth, legs, eyes, or other areas of concern, the AI analyzes the image in about three seconds.
It can detect major progressive diseases such as dental disease, patellar luxation (knee joint issue), and cataracts. Early detection helps owners respond faster and seek proper care for their pets. Along with disease detection, 11Liter also boasts an obesity score analysis that checks a pet’s body condition.
The technology behind this service comes from 11Liter’s own AI system, which is known for being very accurate. In clinical testing, its patellar luxation analysis showed high accuracy and became the first AI software for animals in Korea to receive Class 3 medical device approval. The results were also published in the international science journal Scientific Reports.
In addition to services for pet owners, 11Liter is also introducing a business-focused solution. Through an API service, pet insurance companies, pet-related businesses, and healthcare device makers can easily add 11Liter’s AI technology to their own platforms.
