Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell Reunite for Henchman Comedy ‘Tough Guys’

Hollywood’s most unexpected dream team is back: Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell are reuniting for a new action-comedy titled Tough Guys, produced by Amazon MGM Studios. The film follows two low-level henchmen who, tired of being expendable, break away from the criminal underworld to rewrite their own rules—and their destinies.

Fresh off their wildly different but equally memorable turns in Barbie and their viral “Knife Guys” sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Gosling and Ferrell’s chemistry has already proven electric. With Tough Guys, fans are eagerly anticipating what happens when Ferrell’s chaotic charm collides with Gosling’s brooding charisma—this time in a leading buddy role.

Social media exploded after the casting was announced, with fans already speculating on plotlines and calling the project “pure chaos” and “comedy gold.” Some even joked about a return to knife sales, a nod to their previous sketch antics.

The project is still in early development, with no director confirmed. However, both stars are reportedly set to produce—Ferrell through Gloria Sanchez Productions and Gosling via Open Invite Entertainment.

While plot details remain under wraps, one thing is clear: Tough Guys promises a hilarious, action-packed spin on the classic henchman trope—with two of Hollywood’s funniest faces leading the charge.
