The long-running feud between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump erupted once again this weekend after the former president called the comedian a “threat to humanity” and suggested he was considering revoking her U.S. citizenship.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump claimed O’Donnell was “not in the best interests of our Great Country” and suggested she should “remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland.” O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland in 2017 shortly before Trump’s inauguration, swiftly fired back on Instagram and TikTok, calling the GOP front-runner a “criminal con man” and “soulless man with dementia.”
“This is why I moved to Ireland,” she wrote. “He is a dangerous old man who lacks empathy, compassion, and basic humanity.”
O’Donnell, a native of Commack, New York, cannot legally have her citizenship revoked, as the 14th Amendment protects natural-born citizens. Legal experts noted that such a move would be unconstitutional and without precedent.
Despite the rhetoric, O’Donnell seemed unfazed, using her platform to rally support and continue denouncing Trump’s political ambitions. “Millions stand against you,” she wrote, adding, “You’re a bad joke who can’t form a coherent sentence.”
With the 2024 election looming, the cultural divide between celebrity activism and political power is once again taking center stage.
