Country singer Rory Feek is sharing details of a terrifying health scare involving his daughter, Indiana, just weeks after she underwent successful open-heart surgery.
According to Feek, Indiana, 12, began feeling ill with what appeared to be flu-like symptoms before her condition suddenly took a dramatic turn. After collapsing at home, emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital before she was airlifted to Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas for specialized care.
Doctors determined that fluid had rapidly accumulated around her heart, a serious complication that can occasionally occur following heart surgery. The pressure on her heart required immediate intervention, and surgeons performed an emergency procedure to drain the excess fluid.
Feek said the experience left his family fearing the worst, recalling that there was a moment when they believed they had lost her. Fortunately, the procedure was successful, and Indiana’s condition improved almost immediately after the fluid was removed.
The latest emergency came only weeks after Indiana underwent surgery to repair a congenital heart defect she has lived with since birth. Her recovery had been progressing well before the unexpected setback.
Despite the frightening ordeal, doctors now expect Indiana to make a full recovery. Feek expressed gratitude to the medical teams who cared for his daughter and thanked supporters who have continued to keep their family in their thoughts and prayers during her recovery.
