Motown Music rocked the 60s, filling the airwaves with hope and change. Did you know that Detroit, Michigan also had its share of classic rock artists? At the top of that list you’ll find Bob Seger and Mitch Ryder, but the real father of Rock n’ Roll, Bill Haley, was also born in the Motor City. So were Sony Bono, Meatloaf, Alice Cooper, and Del Shannon. The list of stars is mind blowing.
Ted Nugent, the late Glen Fry of the Eagles, Patti Smith, all of Grand Funk Railroad, Madonna, Marshall Mathers (we know him as Eminem,) Kid Rock, ‘Was not Was’ and Marshall Crenshaw all call Detroit home. Yes, Joni Mitchell was born in Canada, but lived in Detroit in her early years. Cameron Crowe the producer (Almost Famous) is a native Detroiter. Tom Arnold, Tom Selleck, Elizabeth Berkley, producer Francis Ford Coppola, the late Ed McMahon, Gilda Radner, Casey Kasem, Pam Dawber, Lily Tomlin, and ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ James Lipton were all born and raised in Detroit. Cars and Stars! That’s the Motor City legend.
