Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ Tops Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Rihanna recently took the top spot for Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart for this week, as her track “Lift Me Up,” goes from number three to number one. The lead single from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, had Rihanna getting her first chart topper on this list after she has had eight prior entries. The track was Rihanna’s first top ten hit on the Adult R&B Chart, with her prior best being “Wild Thouts” with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller.

When “Lift Me Up,” was debuted on October 28th on top of the following Billboard charts, Hot R&B Songs, R&B Streaming Songs, R&B Digital Song Sales, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs. The song was written in the memory of Chadwick Boseman who originally starred as T’Challa/Black Panther, went to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the November 12th issue. The song was co-written with Tems, Ludwig Göransson and Ryan Coogler.

Tems stated, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life, I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

Rihanna also contributed the track “Born Again” the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever-Music From and Inspired by soundtrack. She had co-written it along with James Fauntleroy, The-Dream and Göransson.
