The Eagles were one of the biggest bands in the 70s because they captured the Folk Rock sound so well, crossing over from pop to rock so easily. How did it all begin for the Eagles?
Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner knew each other because they worked together as Linda Ronstadt’s touring band in her heyday. They decided they sounded so good they wanted to start their own band.
‘Desperado,’ the album, was recorded in London as their second studio album, containing the single “Desperado” which grew the band fan base to women and admirers of the west. In what can be described as politically incorrect today, the album used vintage style photos of the boys of the band standing in front of bodies lying on the ground, much like sheriff publicity photos in the mid 1800s.
The band (which included Joe Walsh who joined the band a few albums in) eventually making it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, sold upwards of 140 million records and released many popular albums. Randy is still touring, Joe has never been more popular as a solo artist, but we all miss Glenn.
