According to hollywoodreporter.com, Jennifer Shah, 48, of Park City, Utah entered a guilty plea to a single count of conspiracy to cmmit wire fraud in a Manhattan federal court after deciding to sign a plea agreement with the prosecutors that has a recommended sentencing of from 11-14 years behind bars. Shah was a member of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City show, she told the judge that, starting in 2012 she was a part of a massive telemarketing fraud campaign that prosecutors claim cheated thousands of people nationwide. In a quote she stated that she was aware she was marketing products to people, “that had little or no value. I knew this was wrong and that many people were harmed and I’m so sorry.” The sentencing has been set for November 28th, Shas is free on bail but did not further comment on the issue when leaving the courthouse. In a statement by U.S. Attorney Damian Williams he said that Shah is “key participant in a nationwide scheme that targeted elderly, vulnerable victims. These victims were sold false promises of financial security but instead Shah and her co-conspirators defrauded them out of their savings and left them with nothing to show for it.” A part of the plea deal also included she would forfeit $6.5 million and has to pay $9.5 million in restitution.
