Sotheby’s, the famous British auction house, is set to auction off a collection of personal items belonging to the late Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen. The auction is scheduled to take place in September of this year.
The collection includes several pieces of clothing, jewelry, and artwork, as well as personal letters and photographs. One of the most notable items up for auction is a stage costume that Mercury wore during a 1986 concert in Wembley Stadium, which is expected to fetch between $36,000 and $46,000.
Other items up for auction include a pair of sunglasses, a ring, and a sketch by the singer. The auction is expected to attract a large number of fans and collectors from around the world, and is likely to generate significant interest and bids.
The auction comes at a time when interest in Mercury and Queen is at an all-time high, due in part to the success of the 2018 biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
