Radiohead’s “Let Down” Reaches the Hot 100—Nearly 30 Years Later, Social Media Revives a Classic

In a remarkable twist of fate, Radiohead’s 1997 track “Let Down” has reentered the spotlight by debuting at No. 91 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100—making it one of only four of their songs ever to chart in America. The standout from their revered OK Computer album finally earned this recognition 28 years after its initial release, fueled by a new wave of popularity driven largely by TikTok trends and a sync license in the Disney+ series The Bear.

Though never a mainstream single in the U.S., “Let Down” had previously earned modest visibility, peaking at No. 29 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart back in ’97.

Its emotional resonance has found a new audience—TikTok users have paired it with heartfelt AI‑generated reels and poignant personal stories, turning an old favorite into a modern viral anthem.

This resurgence follows a rare uptick in Radiohead activity: the band registered a new business entity earlier this year, issued a surprise live album, and even regrouped for rehearsals, hinting at a possible creative return.

“Let Down’s” chart return underscores how streaming and social media can breathe fresh life into decades-old songs—and how enduring artistry often finds its moment again.
