Quentin Tarantino Weighs in on ‘Rust’ Tragedy, Partly Blames Alec Baldwin

Quentin Tarantino has sparked controversy with his recent comments on the tragic shooting that occurred on the set of “Rust.” In an episode of Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, released Sunday, the acclaimed director discussed the incident, where Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Tarantino expressed that while Baldwin isn’t entirely to blame, he does hold some responsibility. He stated that 90% of the fault lies with the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, but added that actors should take some responsibility by checking their weapons before use in a scene.

This view contrasts with the stance of SAG-AFTRA, the union representing actors, which has previously made it clear that they do not believe it’s the actor’s duty to inspect weapons on set.

As many know, the manslaughter charge against Baldwin was dismissed in July after it was revealed that prosecutors had improperly handled key evidence. Since then, Baldwin has filed a lawsuit against Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

During the podcast, Tarantino and Maher also shared their thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making it clear they are not fans of the franchise.
