Pusha T has offered his perspective on one of the most talked-about rap feuds of the year: the clash between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Speaking at the Saint & Citizen Presents: Saint Sessions Live event during Miami Art Week on December 7, the Virginia native reflected on his own involvement in the drama, as well as the lyrical artistry fueling the conflict.
Kendrick’s “Euphoria” Diss
The feud escalated with Kendrick Lamar’s track Euphoria, in which he called out Drake and referenced Pusha T directly. Lamar rapped:
“I don’t like you poppin’ sh*t at Pharrell, for him, I inherit the beef/Yeah, f**k all that pushin’ P, let me see you push a T/ You better off spinnin’ again on him, you think about pushin’ me.”
The bar compared Pusha T to undefeated boxer Terence Crawford, reinforcing Kendrick’s dominant position in the lyrical battle.
Pusha’s Praise for Kendrick
Pusha T, no stranger to high-profile rap battles, praised Lamar’s approach. “Kendrick is a lyricist and a lyricist that talks to your soul,” he said during the Miami event. “You can be clever, you can say cute things, you can do things in cadences, but the truth really hurts, and the truth cuts deep.”
Earlier this year, Pusha and his brother Malice (formerly No Malice) celebrated Euphoria, calling it an “incredible display” and a “masterclass” in battle rap.
Drake’s Legal Battle
The feud didn’t stay confined to music. Drake filed legal complaints against Universal Music Group, accusing them of unethical practices that boosted Kendrick’s diss track Not Like Us. Pusha T interpreted this as a reaction to Kendrick’s piercing lyrics, saying, “I believe that would cause you to tap out, that would cause you to sue, that would cause you to do a lot of things. It’s crazy.”
A Clash of Titans
While Pusha T has had his own storied history with Drake, his admiration for Kendrick Lamar’s artistry was evident. He highlighted Kendrick’s ability to deliver powerful, emotionally charged verses that leave a lasting impact.
With the feud continuing to spark debate among fans and within the rap community, Pusha’s insights shed light on the deeper dynamics of this lyrical war, elevating it beyond mere entertainment into a true showcase of hip-hop’s competitive spirit.
