PS Season is already here with the Return of Pumpkin Spice Oreo Cookies for the First Time Since 2017

Oreo prides itself on its parade of neverending new flavors and varieties. According to Food & Wine, already in 2022 alone, we’ve covered limited edition runs of Oreo Pride packs, a new ice cream-inspired Neapolitan flavor, and a truly bizarre Ritz cracker and Oreo cookie mashup. But though Oreo is consistently looking for new buzzworthy creations, some cookie varieties are successful enough to bring back multiple times – and given the history of the pumpkin spice trend, we probably shouldn’t be surprised that Oreo Pumpkin Spice Cookies are one of those flavors. The seasonal treat is slated to return for another autumn run starting today, August 15.

The limited edition cookie – which features Oreo’s “Golden” cookies as the sandwich base (as opposed to the standard chocolate cookies) and is then filled with “a festive Pumpkin Spice flavored creme” – will be available at stores nationwide while supplies last.

While many brands have followed the Starbucks tradition of bringing back their pumpkin spice products every year, Oreo Pumpkin Spice has only returned intermittently since its original introduction eight years ago. “Oreo first brought limited-edition Oreo Pumpkin Spice Sandwich Cookies to shelves in 2014 and they were last available in 2017,” stated a brand spokesperson. “Oreo  is excited to bring back a fan-favorite, while supplies last, for the 2022 Fall season.”

Interestingly, Oreo also seems to be diving into pumpkin spice season a bit earlier than other companies – except for Krispy Kreme, which last week laid claim to be the first quick-service chain to bring back pumpkin spice products, launching them “earlier than ever: August 8.” Meanwhile, Starbucks – the creator of pumpkin spice madness – has said that they weren’t quite ready to make their big 2022 PSL announcement. For comparison’s sake, last year’s Pumpkin Spice Latte announcement didn’t come until August 23, with the PSL actually getting released on the 24th.

What?  You mean we have to wait till the end of August for Pumpkin Spice lattes?
