Progresso hopes its New Chicken Soup Drops are Good for the Soul

With the new year in full swing and cold and flu season coming in hot, do you ever wish you could sip on a bowl of hot soup on the go? Thanks to Progresso, now you can—well, kind of.

As Woman’s World reports, Progresso’s parent company, General Mills, recently announced that in honor of National Soup Month, the iconic brand is rolling out limited-edition Soup Drops. Confused yet? Allow us to explain what exactly these morsels of savory satisfaction will give you.

Think of your favorite hard candy—sweet, sour, satisfying—and imagine it tasted like chicken noodle soup. That’s exactly what customers can expect from Progresso’s Soup Drops. Progresso is eliminating the need for a bowl and spoon with these hard candy-like drops with a flavor that resembles the familiar warm broth, savory chicken and vegetables, aromatic parsley and familiar egg noodles that are beyond perfect for an on-the-go sick day in which relaxing in bed isn’t an option.

“For decades, Progresso Soup has brought you cozy comfort on chilly days or when you’re under the weather,” said VP of Business Unit Director for Progresso at General Mills, MC Comings. “When you’re sick, nothing is truly more reassuring than Chicken Noodle Soup. So, we thought, why stop at the soup bowl? We took the beloved flavors of our Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup and packed them into a fun, savory candy Soup Drop for a totally new way to enjoy the taste you love whenever and wherever you want.”

These all-new Progresso Soup Drops will come in a can that resembles actual Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup, containing 20 savory drops per container. These drops come in at only $2.49, plus an additional $0.99 for shipping—but that’s not all! Each order will also include an actual can of soup for the times when you do have a moment to sit down, relax and enjoy a piping hot bowl of this cold and flu fighter.

Progresso Soup Drops first went on sale on January 16 at ProgressoSoupDrops.com. Though their site may currently indicate they’re sold out, for the remaining Thursdays of National Soup Month (January 23 and 30), you can visit the site to purchase some for yourself as more will drop each week at 9 a.m. ET.
