Princess Leia Organa is Gone

Carrie FIsher had just finished with a rigorous book tour abroad, resting comfortably on a plane from London to Los Angeles when she suffered a cardiac episode. This was just a few days ago. A nearby passenger performed CPR as the plane was in decent to LAX. As the plane landed, paramedics quickly removed her from the flight, rushing her to a nearby hospital, where she was sedated and remained unresponsive. Carrie Fisher, our Princess Leia Organa, is dead at the age of 60.

Carrie was the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and actor Eddie Fisher, learning to cope with fame and fortune before she was nine. Although she was an accomplished actress, appearing in early television and film, she was also a screenwriter, producer, and author.

Her film roles included the blockbusters Shampoo, When Harry Met Sally, The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, and the ‘Burbs. It was her role in a 1977 futuristic film titled ‘Star Wars’ that solicited her with her fans.

It was alleged that she and Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford had a torrid three-month affair after filming the movie, but Carrie’s biggest marital accomplishment was marrying singer songwriter Paul Simon, a marriage that lasted less than 18 months.

Carrie Fisher is survived by son Billie Lourd, her mother Debbie Reynolds, brother Todd Fisher, half-sisters, and actresses Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher.

There will never be another Princess Leia Organa, Carrie Fisher.
