What a last week or so we’ve had when it comes to some of the best in baseball. First it was Mark Teixeira, then it was Alex Rodriguez and now it is Prince Fielder. All three have decided to call it quits mainly due to things they can’t control – age and health.
Prince Fielder has announced that he’ll be done with baseball after his most recent neck surgery is keeping him from having the range of motion and flexibility needed to play again. While he won’t technically retire so he can continue to earn on his contract, he will no longer be suiting up.
Fielder ends his career with 319 home runs, a career .283 average and 1,028 RBI. This season he was hitting just .212 with eight home runs and 44 RBI in 89 games played.
