In an exciting announcement for prog rock enthusiasts, Primus and Coheed And Cambria are set to embark on a co-headlining US tour this summer, weaving through July and August. This musical alliance brings together two powerhouses of progressive rock for a series of performances that promise to captivate audiences across the nation.
The tour will see a rotation of vibrant support acts, starting with Fishbone energizing the first eight dates. The baton will then pass to Guerilla Toss for the following nine shows, with Too Many Zooz taking over to play the remaining concerts. Additionally, Primus has scheduled headline shows featuring Fantastic Negrito, adding another layer of eclectic sound to their tour.
Coheed And Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez expressed his admiration for Primus, highlighting the significant creative influence Primus has had on him. The collaboration between Sanchez and Primus’ Les Claypool during the pandemic for a charitable cover of Rush’s “Anthem” underlines the mutual respect and artistic synergy between the two bands.
Sanchez also shared news about the upcoming release of his latest comic book series from The Amory Wars saga, “No World for Tomorrow,” which is expected to hit comic stores on May 1.
Amidst these thrilling announcements, Primus continues to make waves with their participation in the Sessanta tour, a celebration of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan’s 60th birthday, along with performances by Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. This tour not only marks a pivotal moment for Primus but also for the progressive rock genre, as it brings together some of its most influential and innovative acts.
