Tensions between Playboi Carti and Ye are boiling over once again, and this time, it’s all about a beat.
When Ye unexpectedly dropped a track titled “Alive,” featuring NBA YoungBoy, many fans assumed it was a collaborative truce — especially since the song samples Carti’s “CRANK.” But Carti wasted no time setting the record straight. Posting a self-made video of his version on his Opium Instagram account, he captioned it, “DIS MY SONG LIL BRA @ye,” making his displeasure clear.
The song’s murky origins only fuel the drama. Sneako, a streamer closely aligned with Ye lately, claimed the beat wasn’t Carti’s to begin with. “Ye made the beat, clearly,” Sneako insisted. “Carti’s version isn’t even good.”
But this isn’t new territory for Ye. From unauthorized uses of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” to Ozzy Osbourne’s “War Pigs” and even a Backstreet Boys flip, Ye has a history of dropping tracks before clearing samples — or sometimes, without permission at all.
Carti and Ye’s relationship has unraveled in public for months. After Ye criticized Carti’s MUSIC album and its Kendrick Lamar features, Carti snapped back with a blunt “YE STFU” on social media.
Looks like any truce is far from alive.
