The Detroit Pistons refused to go quietly, outlasting the New York Knicks 106-103 in a thrilling Game 5 to extend their first-round series in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks now lead the series 3-2, but momentum may be shifting.
Cade Cunningham delivered another postseason gem, leading Detroit with 24 points and adding five rebounds and five assists. It marked his fourth playoff game with at least 20-5-5, tying Pistons legend Isiah Thomas for the third most in a single postseason in franchise history.
Tobias Harris added 22 points in a performance that steadied Detroit through tense fourth-quarter minutes. The Knicks, meanwhile, struggled to find offensive rhythm. OG Anunoby posted a team-high 19 points, but Jalen Brunson had an off night, finishing with 16 points on just 4-of-16 shooting.
With this loss, the Knicks now hold an unwanted NBA postseason record—five consecutive home defeats in potential series-clinching games.
Detroit heads back home for Game 6 with renewed confidence, while the Knicks will face growing pressure to close out a series that once looked secure.
